The Women’s Missionary Union at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church is a vibrant community of women dedicated to living out the Great Commission and leading lives marked by prayer, service, and mission. WMU has a long history within the Baptist church of equipping women to serve Christ, and here at New Providence, that legacy continues with passion and purpose.

Our WMU ministry is designed to encourage women of all ages to grow in their walk with the Lord while also providing opportunities to share the love of Christ with others. At the heart of WMU is a commitment to missions — both supporting those who serve on the mission field and personally engaging in outreach and ministry opportunities close to home. Whether across the globe or across the street, WMU believes every woman has a role to play in God’s Kingdom work.

Each month, our WMU gathers for fellowship, prayer, and planning as we seek to stay connected to what God is doing through missions worldwide. These gatherings are times of encouragement and equipping, where women can learn more about missionaries, pray specifically for their needs, and discover new ways to support mission efforts financially and practically. Together, we study God’s Word, share our hearts, and strengthen one another for the work He has called us to do.

In addition to supporting international and national missions through initiatives such as the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, our WMU also takes an active role in local outreach. This includes serving in community projects, supporting families in need, and partnering with other ministries of our church to ensure that the love of Christ is felt throughout Tellico Plains and beyond. WMU is not only about learning about missions but also living on mission every day.

One of the most meaningful aspects of WMU is the relationships formed among women who are walking side by side in faith and service. Through Bible study, fellowship, and shared ministry, WMU creates a sisterhood of encouragement where women can build lasting friendships, pray for one another, and grow stronger together.
