Missions

At New Providence, missions are not just one of our ministries—they are the very heartbeat of our church. From the earliest days of our history, we have been committed to living out the Great Commission, answering Christ’s call to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). We believe every believer is called to be on mission, whether that means serving faithfully in our own community or reaching across the globe to share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

One of the unique ways our church serves is through the New Providence Mission Center, a dedicated hub that allows us to extend the love of Christ in practical and powerful ways. The Mission Center is more than a building—it’s a place of hope, compassion, and connection. From providing food, clothing, and household essentials to families in need, to offering prayer and encouragement for those going through difficult seasons, the Mission Center reflects our deep desire to meet both physical and spiritual needs. Every act of service is an opportunity to remind people that they are seen, valued, and loved by God.

Our mission efforts are wide-reaching and include:

  • Local Outreach – Our first mission field is right here at home. Through the Mission Center and other local initiatives, we partner with our community to serve those in need, whether through providing meals, organizing clothing drives, offering seasonal assistance, or simply being present for prayer and fellowship. We believe that by showing the love of Christ in tangible ways, doors are opened for the gospel to be shared.
  • National and International Missions – Beyond our local community, New Providence is passionate about supporting mission efforts across the nation and around the world. We do this through prayer, financial support, and sending teams when possible. Whether it’s helping plant churches, supporting missionaries in challenging fields, or participating in mission trips, our goal is always the same—to make Christ known wherever He leads us.
  • Mission Offerings – As a Southern Baptist church, we actively participate in mission offerings such as the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for international missions and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American missions. These efforts allow us to join with other churches to support thousands of missionaries who are faithfully serving around the globe.
  • Mission Education – Missions are not just something we do; they are something we live. We intentionally teach and encourage every age group in our church to embrace a lifestyle of missions. From our children learning the importance of serving others, to our youth being challenged to boldly live out their faith, to our adults stepping into leadership roles in service and outreach—missions are woven into the very fabric of who we are as a church family.

At New Providence, we believe missions are about more than just programs or events. They are about people—real people who need to know the hope and salvation found in Jesus Christ. Every time we open the doors of the Mission Center, every meal that is served, every trip that is taken, and every offering that is given represents an opportunity to make an eternal difference in someone’s life.

We invite you to join us in this calling. There are countless ways to be involved—through prayer, giving, volunteering at the Mission Center, or even stepping out in faith to serve on the mission field yourself. Together, as a church family, we can reach Tellico Plains, our nation, and the nations of the world with the good news of Jesus Christ.

If you’ve never experienced the joy of serving in missions, we would love for you to come visit the Mission Center and see firsthand how God is working through this ministry. Whether you’re looking to volunteer, learn more, or simply connect with others who share a heart for service, there’s a place for you here. Come be part of what God is doing at New Providence—we can’t wait to serve alongside you.
