At New Providence Missionary Baptist Church, we are a community of believers committed to glorifying God in all that we do. Our mission is clear: to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, equip believers to grow strong in their faith, and reach our community and the world with the life-changing message of salvation.

For generations, New Providence has stood as a place of worship, prayer, and service in Tellico Plains. Our roots run deep in this community, and our history is a testimony to God’s faithfulness. From the very beginning, our church has sought to remain grounded in the truth of Scripture and dedicated to carrying out the Great Commission. While the times have changed, our foundation has not—we continue to stand on the unshakable Word of God.

At New Providence, we are more than a congregation—we are a family. Our doors are open to people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. You will find a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone is invited to come as they are and experience the transforming love of Christ. Together, we walk in faith, encourage one another, and serve side by side as we seek to grow in grace and live out our calling.

Our worship services are Christ-centered and rooted in biblical truth. We gather to lift our voices in praise, study God’s Word, and respond to His presence with thankful hearts. Beyond Sunday mornings, discipleship continues through Bible studies, small groups, youth and children’s ministries, and opportunities to serve both inside and outside the church.

Missions are at the very heart of who we are. Locally, we operate a Mission Center that serves as a hub of outreach for families and individuals in need. Through food, clothing, prayer, and encouragement, we strive to meet both physical and spiritual needs right here in our community. But our vision doesn’t stop at Tellico Plains—we are also actively engaged in supporting national and international mission work. Through prayer, giving, and partnerships, we join in spreading the gospel across the globe, faithfully supporting missionaries and mission efforts that carry the good news to the ends of the earth.

Each of our ministries reflects our desire to serve God and others. From our Children’s Ministry—where kids are nurtured in their faith and taught to know and love Jesus—to our Youth Ministry, which equips students to live boldly for Christ in their schools, families, and future callings, every age group is intentionally discipled and encouraged to grow. Our Young at Heart Ministry provides fellowship and joy for adults ages 60+, reminding us that every season of life is a gift from God and an opportunity to serve Him faithfully. And through our Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) and other ministries, we continue to equip and send out workers into God’s harvest field.

At New Providence, we believe church is not confined to the walls of a building—it is the hands and feet of Christ at work in the world. Our desire is to be a light in Tellico Plains and beyond, showing the love of Jesus in word and deed.

New Providence is blessed to be shepherded by Pastor Rick Atkins, who has faithfully served our church since 1998. Having grown up just a few miles from where our church now stands—and in a pastor’s home where his father once pastored New Providence in the 1950s—Pastor Rick’s roots in this community run deep. Ordained in 1977, he has spent decades passionately proclaiming the uncompromising truth of the gospel and guiding our congregation with wisdom, humility, and love. His heart for people and commitment to God’s Word continue to shape New Providence as a place where lives are transformed and Christ is exalted.
